Work experience is the short-term placement of secondary school students with employers to provide insights into the industry and the workplace in which they are located. The program provides students with the valuable opportunity to:
develop employability skills
explore possible career options
understand employer expectations
increase their self-understanding, maturity, independence, and self-confidence.
Students are placed with employers primarily to observe and learn - not to undertake activities that require extensive training or expertise. Students are advised not to undertake work experience at their part-time place of employment.
Timeline 2026:
Term 1 2026: Students contact prospective employers and request a placement.
Term 2 2026: Students to complete digital form.
Term 3 2026: Students complete the Safe @ Work assessments and upload their certificates to the learning tasks in Aspire class.
Students will undertake their work experience placement during Week 10 (14th September 2026 – 18th September 2026) of the term 3
